Cameron Vs. Peterson

Post by KevinNSaisi on Sun Oct 12, 2008 3:43 pm

In the Peterson/Cameron race, I am inclined to vote for Peterson. I have two reasons for my choice. The first reason is Rob Cameron. I have had very few positive interactions with the man. He almost always seems evasive or negative in his presentation, and has presented that way at selectman meetings. He always seems to be against something, rarely for it. The last straw with Mr. Cameron is the way he handled the casino vote. His need to run an invalid survey of the people prior to deciding whether or not to endorse the concept of a casino in Oxford County showed me that he doesn't know the people he represents. When you are elected to a public position, you need to have a strong connection to the community in which you serve. Rob's lack of position in the casino vote shows me he does not have that connection.

Matt Peterson appears to be a nice person. I have spoken with him briefly and believe him to be of strong character. I haven't always agreed with his father when he was on the board of selectmen, but Matt isn't his father. Despite party politics in Augusta, I believe Matt will do his best for our community.

Seriously speaking from knowledge of who Rob Cameron is, I know personally he is a stand up individual and know that he can be very positive but is not afraid to make sure he is informed before casting a vote. This is not to say I am supporting either person. Both Rob and Matt are personal family friends and I hold both with high regard. Just wanted to throw in what I knew Rob to be.

Perhaps if I had seen that in my dealings with him, I would be more likely to support him, but I have not. Crying or Very sad
