Selectboard

Post by C on Fri Oct 24, 2008 9:17 am

With an upcoming board vacancy I bet if Jolene L. or Jim T. ran again they'd win by a landslide...Does anyone know who the potential candidates are for this upcoming vacancy? Will Arthur Boivin be attempting to be re-elected?

Neither one would get my vote.

I'd wager that J SNO would run.

Bug, I don't think she would be able to run for anything - my understanding is that she is being deployed in the next year or so.

Selectboard

It seems so good since we haven't had to look at Jolenes mug I would hope the the towns people, by now have seen through her lies and intimidation. Personally I don't know how an individual would have the audacity to run for any seat after what she put this town through.

What about Jim T? I wasn't really much into politics while they were on the board but it seems things ran smoother with less drama and misbehavior...at least that I heard about...

C,
I have served on the board with Jim T. I would not support his return to power. Ask me personally sometime for my reasons.

back to JSN's deployment, is it true she put in for Abu Graib? (I know she certainly has the experience and the temperment for the post). Let's all wish her luck.

Very funny. Too bad you didn't post the pic of JSN pointing her rifle at a man's head. It'd make a great poster.

If certain people are who I think they are, they may be considered too close to certain members of the board, and thus be less likely to garner votes. We need a neutral person who hasn't been involved in the turmoil of the past two years, or at least is considered to be capable of putting aside the past and working toward the future.

What does it matter who is close to whom? clearly the town govt is already incestuous in the general sense of the word , and in a town of 6000, how can that not be? to me it's a matter of qualifications, not relationships.

I disagree...
If we are to prosper as a town, we need peace on the board. In order to maintain the peace we have, it is important that the person elected in June not be in either camp. We need someone who can make intelligent decisions. On some issues he/she would vote one way, and on ther issues he/she would vote another way. This 3-2 voting makes one group too powerful and leaves the minority wondering why they are there (I know from experience). Putting in Ron Theriault or Walter Buotte, as intelligent as they both are, would be a disaster for the town.

so, just for sake of argument, you would support having steve eldridge as TM, because he lived outside and was not connected to anyone in town?

but as an example of possibitlies, let me bring up Mary Matlin and James Carville. they are on complete opposites of the political spectrum, yet maintain a healthy marriage.

But do they sit on a board together?? Any inter-party marriage can work as long as you keep the politics out of it.
