TRR moves to provide a "safe place".

Post by T on Tue Nov 25, 2008 6:33 am

From The Rumford Reporter:

"The Rumford Reporter is going to provide a safe place for members only to have discussion about what is going on here in our community."

"In order to become a member, you must explain who you are, why you want
to become a member, and agree to the terms of membership."

"The Rumford Reporter ceased comments on this site because of the cruel
anonymous comments from people that viciously attacked people in the community."

"It's sad that we have this kind of dark element in our society. But, like every community, there is that element. We will rise above this kind of behavior for the good of our community. And, if you are in a public position, you have to expect that your actions especially will be analyzed and even criticized because you are accountable to the people of our fine community."

Couldn't the town pay for her move back to Bethel (or anywhere else)? Maybe the Landlord/tenants Association can help. Such hypocritical diatribe. Excuse me while I puke...............

I can't even think of a response to this kind of crazy thinking. This person seriously needs to consider stepping down from "public service".

I've been mulling over today's TRR postings; I am flabbergasted. Does she truly believe her site to be all "nicey-nice"?

"....you are not allowed to slander anyone. You can provide constructive criticism and feedback but any untruths, mean spirited comments, and disparaging remarks about people are not allowed. You will immediately be kicked off the site....." (today's TRR)

Does she truly believe she has not slandered, disparaged, lied, misled, misrepresented, etc., etc., etc.? Does she truly believe she has NOT been mean-spirited? If so, this woman needs serious help. If she is so blind to her own behaviors, she should not be representing this community in any capacity.

After reading that drivel this morning, I really want to say something. However, I neither have the time, nor do I want to lower myself to the same level as that hate-mongering pestilence. As far as putting her life on the line, she does not need to worry. The people she disrespects, slanders, libels, and lies about are far more professional than she could even hope to be. For that, she should thank them.

I surely hope that the town manager, selectmen and others in public position, such as people on the finance board or any other board will read the Town Charter and By-Laws PRIOR to obtaining membership in a group whose goal is to "analyze and even criticize" people in public position.

If a fire department member can't publicly try to influence voters, how can she be able to?

There's a duality in her thinking that defies logic and implies imbalance.

Gee, joining her " members only" club is harder than writing your college essay! "explain who you are"? that alone is a bit Nietzchian. " why you want to become a member" ... ok, that's easy, to save mankind of course, that and promoting the TRR agenda. "Agree to the terms of membership" .... well, ok, if it doesn't include public flogging and time in the stock.... sure.

I am sure right now that the citizens (concerned and otherwise) are all hunkered at their computers composing their membership essays. I know I am , although I may have to call in a professional to explain " who i am".

oh, and can i just add one thing... when she says " we will rise above".... all i could think of is the old saying that &%$( floats.

Also, to my (admittedly failing) memory, there was never a time when TRR accepted posting, anyonymous or otherwise.

Oh, (i know, i 've exceeded my "one thing", but...) when she brags about hits on her site, I have a feeling that a lot of it is just people like me checking to see what the latest garbage is (a guilty pleasure). Trash is still trash.

Xmashen, relax...it's just a membership application. See, mine's all done:

Explain who you are:
Biblically - Born in Biddeford, Daughter of Dorothy of Brooklyn, begotton of Mary of Ireland, begotten of Mary also of Ireland
Occupationally - Self-employed, also mother/volunteer
Hobbies - Study of people and politics, gardening, whatever else suits my fancy
Education - Bachelor's Degree business management

Why you want to become a member:
To see if I can become a member
To discuss "what's going on here in our community"
Entertainment

What do you think are my chances??? geek

My name might be Dave. I'm a complicated soul who likes puppies, walks on the beach, and meaningful conversation. My body is composed of 60% water. I want to become a member so I can directly question your inane statements and ask for fact-based answers instead of your hate-filled diatribes.

Am I in?

Heres my thought....she has no way of verifying who is who on that website so I say we all apply under whatever name we choose. I heard from a friend that porn names are created by using your middle name and the street you grew up on......Wink We could all be stars of the TRR!

Let me rephrase my qualifications.

I love guns, shooting people, and blowing things up. Sarah Palin is a goddess, I am a mere mortal.

Casinos good. Strip Clubs good. Obama bad.

One way communication good. Rational discussion bad.

Fire trucks bad. Fire codes bad.

Am I in now?

--and yes, for those unable to comprehend, my tongue is firmly placed in my cheek---

I wonder if there are many firefighters or police who want to become members.
