To be a conservative or not to be a conservative...that is the question?

Post by 911Dispatcher on Sun Feb 08, 2009 2:01 pm

Take this with a grain of salt because I do not have factual information in front of me, and normally I do not like to post unless I do. However I felt the need to put this question out there and see if others could help me find an answer.

TRR is a known Conservative Republican blog. Its editor, JSN, prides herself on being a conservative and supporting other conservatives like Sarah Palin. In America this is her god given right and one that I am happy that we all have. However one thing I tend to have discontent for is a hypocrite. Someone who says or pushes an agenda that they themselves can or will not follow. Sarah Palin is a prime example of this. Not to long ago she was a whistle blower on a legislator using state time and supplies to run a campaign for another office. Palin prided herself on being the whistle blower, for standing up and not turning her cheek. However when it came time for Mayor Palin to run for Lt. Governor she had no problem using the cities offices, supplies, and staff to do the exact same thing. So which is it JSN, being the accuser or being the accused?

Now with JSN we have similar circumstances. Not to long ago while on the TRR forum I was talking about active shooter training that my department was doing. JSN was very interested in the details of the training and went as far as to say she wished that Rumford could do something similar. I found it funny that the person under 'The Truth' in the SunJournal, someone who is believed to be JSN, commented under the article about the mock crisis training at MVHS. 'The Truth' stated that she believed it was a waste of tax payer money. Which is it JSN a waste of tax payer money or good training?

I also find it interesting the quotes from public figures she believes are true conservatives. Such as her quote from Thomas Jefferson on TRR under the post "True Conservative Values by Pete Harring"

"If a man cannot be trusted with the government of himself, can he be trusted with the government of others?"

Funny how she supports a political town figure who has filed for bankruptcy and reported that a large sum of his debt was accrued from gambling. Again this is something I have not yet seen in paper so I can not confirm that it is factual information. I also want to state that I am not against persons filing for bankruptcy for things that are out of their control (i.e medical bills). However I am not for bailing out someone who was irresponsible with their own money. Is this being a true conservative? Like the quote JSN posted, can we trust someone with tax payers money who can not manage their own? Which is it JSN a true conservative or not?

"If a man cannot be trusted with the government of himself, can he be trusted with the government of others?"

Her long posts on this forum indicate that she does not feel she has to be self-governing...only governing of others.

I have voiced my concerns yet again to one of the selectmen regarding her letter to Duguay. She shows very poor judgment. This has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech. She is citing her membership on both boards as legitimizing her right to question. Who else is she writing to, claiming to represent the voice of Rumford? This is very bad business.

From TRR:

"True Republicans Believe:
...that public servants, particularly those whom we elect to office, must be held accountable to the highest standards of ethical conduct."

Does any one think that JSN has acted ethically in her "search for the TRUTH", in her quest to do what is right for the town and its citizens?

I think the thing that we so easily take out of the equation is that she is probably not a well woman. We respond to her as if she is " normal" , when in fact, her writing points to a deep psychosis, that under other circumstances, we should and would feel sympathy towards. Were she not out to harm others, I would only wish her the best and a speedy recovery. It's not a simple matter of being a " conservative". Gee, some of my best friends are conservative! She seems to be operating in extreme dysfunction and we have to keep that in mind. We all have our " crayzee" moments, but we don't usually try to make a career of it.

Her site annoys and frustrates many of us. If it were just a personal blog or a my-space page, really, who would care? In this case, it's complicated by the fact that she sits on 4 town boards/committees and pushes her site as representing the community. (she's also not averse to posting "anonymous" letters to the Lisbon Reporter pushing her ancient personal grievances and agenda). The old saying " just because I'm crazy doesn't mean I'm stupid" comes to mind. Ethics seem completely irrelevant to her, and maybe we should excuse her actions because of her moral disability. I don't know. I do worry about her, from a humanist standpoint, but then, she's still out there doing as much damage as she can. On the other hand, maybe I am completely wrong.

That would explain why he wanted a casino in Rumford and point out another of JSN's wacko inconsistencies.

Excellent thought to consider Xmashen and points to more concerns about her being elected to boards. I do not have concerns about her website, because there are many like it out there (I'd like to think Rush Limbaugh might also suffer a similar mental dysfunction). I have more concerns that she is representing the citizens when on these boards. I also am concerned that she has a influence on certain selectmen. However there is also a distinct possiblity that selectman are using her, because of her possible underlying problems and weakness, to promote their agenda. Either way I don't like it.

Her state of mind to me is irrelevant. I do not like the way she is representing the Rumford citizens, specifically in the letter to Duguay. Her named is signed and the boards she participates in are named. Very, very inappropriate. Period.

but IS she representing anyone? that's the point. I am sure there are some people (hmmm. i can think of ONE whose name shall go unmentioned, except to say it's RT). JT doesn't count since he's not a real person.

I think it is representing when she gets to vote, when someone is not present, at the Medcare meetings. Especially when she said on here specifically she is going to bring Medcare down.

Therefore, you cut their budgets in an effort to stop them. And, then maybe they will think twice before they sh-- all over people.

It's her above type of statements that makes her being on the finance committee a bit worrisome.
