TRR validates reduction in staff cause for increase in overtime

Her new post, referencing the Portland Press Heralds article about Westbrooks Fire Department, is a validation that overtime costs are often accrued from minimal staffing. Westbrooks increase in overtime cost was a direct result of an absence of two firefighters.

"City Council President Brendan Rielly said he wasn't surprised by
the overtime costs, given the length of the leaves and suspensions.
Rielly said the run-up in costs was "disheartening," but the leaves
were necessary. "Clearly in this specific case, it was absolutely appropriate for
the two female employees to not be there – that needed to be done," he
said. Rielly said the department should conduct a review of its policy on
staffing levels, though, in light of the jump in overtime costs. The
department should look into whether it can keep the city safe with
fewer firefighters on duty per shift, he said."

I find the last sentence in the sample from the article a key point into Rumford's current situation. Thank you TRR for bringing this article to our attention.

She does not have a clue. I wonder at her obsession with certain issues. Eventualy people will tire of her and she will fade away.
